Football Refereeing

The Brazilian Confederation of Football (CBF) in Brazil makes it very difficult for Brazilian footballers to guarantee their performance in terms of correct call decisions by referees. The arbitrary camera system isn't first-rate. Some football teams are having goals disallowed which looks like systematical rape!

A Facebook friend, Luis wrote: “Paranoid!!!! The refereeing in Brazil is terrible, it gets things right and wrong for all teams! Those who are harmed one day are favored the next! It's that simple!”

But is it fair you might ask? One team who have observed some discrepancies is Palmeiras who have been going through a patch of difficulty, in which several decisions have been called that could be incorrect.

John in response wrote: “The reasoning is referees in Europe don’t have such an intense calendar of events. Additionally, they are more closely monitored, to keep in line with conditioning. They get more recognition which allows them to receive points for each match which provides more scope for advancement (not done in Brazil). A referee in Brazil doesn’t have the same monitoring system in place, and therefore fatigue catches up and conditioning in some cases needs to be accounted for.”

Luis wrote: “John that is 100% right. I completely agree. The refereeing on the field and the technology available to the VAR team is much better and more modern than that used here. What is unacceptable is the stance adopted by several coaches, particularly Abel, who insinuates in his interviews that there is favoring and plotting against his team.

Brazilian players are also not helping at all. When a situation arises that raises doubts and the VAR is activated, everyone goes after the referee on the field in flagrant acts of indiscipline, along with their technical support. We have a lot to improve for the good of football. That’s more or less it... Cheers!

Considering Palmeiras have dominated the pitch for almost four years, it has given other teams a chance to catch up. Nevertheless, Brazil is known for dishonesty, so perhaps Abel has a point!

Take care!
