Living Alone

My brother has been in a relationship for the least 40 years. His girlfriend lives around 200 kilometers away in Norwich, East Anglia, England. For the last six years, since retiring he spends two weeks at his home, and then travels to her place and stays there for another two weeks. Living alone, seems strange, but is it?

Living alone has its merits. I mean, think about it for a moment. Entering your home which is your sanctuary; your place where no one can control you, no one is making noise like answering the phone unless it’s you, having to share the living room when you want to sit in your spot with the curtains open or closed and the TV switched on the program or Netflix channel that suits your desire. Imagine having loud music on or off when you want to listen, and not having to fit in with other people’s obsessions that disturb you.

Whatever the situation you are in, if in a relationship or living with your family, your best bet is to find the middle ground, so you can enjoy your space. It isn’t always easy living with others, but if you are well-balanced, you should be able to juggle it to your hearts content.

Perhaps you like having others around you, and don’t care, or if you have a family then appreciating them with love and care is essential to your wellbeing. The best-case scenario would be spending good quality time with them, helping them overcome their issues with supportive care, and then working around your schedule and theirs to have your own time like going to the gym, personal grooming, or a stretch when you can chisel out your own space at home when it’s quiet.

Denzel Washington recently created a motivational flick on YouTube that sums up his opinion out of living alone. It is very easy to agree and for a moment absorb the benefits though after listening to the video presentation below, I suggest summing it all up in its entirety.

My view is simple. Too much of a good thing, usually is. Actually, creating your own story with others can be just as good as being alone too long. My mum is crying because she’s lonely.

All the best,

Prof. Carl Boniface

Denzel Washington says it as he believes:
