According to dermatologists in the know it is recommended that your morning routine should always involve a cleanser and moisturizer along with protective products like an antioxidant serum and sunscreen. At night, combine cosmetic microneedling with a vitamin A (retinol or retinoic acid) serum to improve skin tone and firmness. Great for product sales!
On the other hand, that seems like an awful lot of things to have to do on the outside when the real issue could be the inside; what we consume as food, how we deal with stress and free radicals that deplete our healthy body of resources. I’m no expert, and confess the only treatment that my daily rituals include is washing my face with cold water. That’s right, where my face is concerned, soap isn’t used and instead my face is patted with cold tap water and then dried by gently patting my facial skin with a white towel. The only time a conditioning cream is used is after shaving!
No bragging, but I think dermatologists aren’t the experts they are meant to be. Many years ago, after arriving in Brazil, an aggressive rash came up on my hands which to put it mildly was very annoying, as it inconvenienced me from carrying out simple tasks. My wife recommended, according to her the best dermatologist in Brazil. She said he is world acclaimed. He wrote me a prescription for some special Ointment (cream).
It was a painful experience. The cream burned the rash and it got worse. If he had told me, it was normal to cause a chemical reaction with the wound then maybe I would have expected it, but as that wasn’t the case, and the pain was too excruciating to say the least, I ended up avoiding its use. In the end I used due diligence and found a cream called Psorex Ointment that could be purchased off the shelf, and that did the trick and cured my rash. Additionally, I saved a lot of money!
The moral of the story is that Doctors have to be trusted if you are not prepared to step out of your comfort zone and take care of yourself. That means before rushing to your local GP or hospital, why not see if you are able to sort out your issue alone, or with family members, or friends who could give good advice.
Those prepared to find solutions usually do. Certain injuries need more intense care, and even an operation. However, there is no better way to improve your healthspan than learning how to prevent problems in the first place.
Take care!
