A lot of press over Trump’s recent comments that the USA shouldn’t send aid to Ukraine is a controversial and sensitive topic that may have different opinions and perspectives. Based on Internet research, it seems that former President Donald Trump has expressed contradictory views on sending money to Ukraine.
On one hand, Trump has claimed that he was the one who sent military aid to Ukraine, including Javelin anti-tank missiles, to help them defend themselves against Russian aggression. He also said that he would send more resources to Ukraine than President Joe Biden has.
On the other hand, Trump has also been accused of withholding nearly $400 million of military aid from Ukraine in 2019, in exchange for political favors from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This was the basis of his first impeachment by the House of Representatives. He also said that the US is giving Ukraine too much money and that other NATO allies should contribute more.
Therefore, it is not clear what Trump’s current opinion on sending money to Ukraine is, or whether he has a consistent policy on this issue. However, like many politicians, hypocrisy is commonplace to steer voters one direction, especially before an election when every vote counts.
Have a terrific day!
